Our client are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team of 4–5 people. This opportunity would suit either a candidate looking to begin a career in accounts with full training provided, or an individual with prior accounts experience, particularly within purchase ledger.

Looking for immediately available candidates

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and data entry of purchase ledger invoices
  • Assisting with the onboarding of new contractors onto the HR system
  • Maintaining accurate filing systems (electronic and paper-based)
  • Drafting routine correspondence and letters
  • Providing ad hoc administrative and operational support to the wider accounts team

Key Attributes

  • Candidates with previous accounts experience, ideally with exposure to purchase ledger processes, or
  • Entry-level candidates with a keen interest in developing a career in finance considered (full training provided)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting the wider team
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications

Our client is seeking a Verification Analyst to join their friendly and supportive team. As a Verification Analyst, you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring that all claims are verified with the relevant backup and resolved in line with agreed KPIs. Working within a busy and supportive Accounts Receivable team, you will collaborate with Collections, Commercial Finance, and other teams to maintain the integrity of the ledger and ensure customer satisfaction. This is a varied role, offering continuous learning and development in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify sales deduction claims and ensure all submissions are supported by signed commercial terms or deal sheets.
  • Manage disputes and queries efficiently, liaising with customers, Account Managers, and Collections teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of verified claims and ensure the balance sheet is up to date.
  • Use SAP and other systems to track approvals and communicate progress to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve processes and contribute to scheduled reporting, audits, and ad hoc AR activities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer and internal relationships, providing excellent service and timely resolutions.

Key Attributes

  • Experience in accounts, AR, or financial operations within a corporate environment.
  • Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables and Macros.
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Target-focused, proactive, and able to work independently within a team.

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team in Sunbury-on-Thames. This role involves managing sales ledger activities, credit control, bank reconciliations across multiple currency accounts and supporting month-end and year-end processes. The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role within the freight forwarding industry, along with strong accounting knowledge, Sage 50 proficiency and excellent attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Ledger:

  • Record and allocate customer receipts.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer accounts and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Credit Control:
  • Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments.
  • Communicate with customers regarding overdue accounts and arrange payment plans if necessary.

Bank Reconciliations:

  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple currency bank accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and company records.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

General Accounts Duties:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.

Key Attributes

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant in a similar role in freight and forwarding for at least 2 years
  • Freight forwarding/Logistics experience (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Sage 50 in particular
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
