Is the UK Recruitment Market Finally Turning a Corner?

After a challenging few years, there are some encouraging signs emerging from the UK recruitment market.

Signs of improvement – Permanent placements rose to 50.5 in August, moving above the 50-mark for the first time since September 2022, while temporary recruitment also continues to show positive movement.

Why it matters – For employers considering their next hire, improving confidence could be a good opportunity to start planning ahead rather than waiting until a vacancy becomes urgent.

September is the Recruitment Reset

September can be just as important as January when it comes to recruitment. With summer holidays over, teams back together and businesses revisiting budgets, it’s a good time for employers to look at what they need before the end of the year.

Planning ahead – Rather than only recruiting when a vacancy becomes urgent, September is a useful opportunity to identify the gaps that could hold a team back and consider what skills will be needed heading into 2027.

At March Recruitment, we support businesses across Surrey with both permanent and temporary recruitment, helping employers plan their workforce and find the people they need.

Supporting Our Local Community

September also gave us the opportunity to come together as a team and support a great cause.

Macmillan Cancer Support – A big thank you to everyone in the building who came along to our Macmillan Coffee Morning and to the March team for all the baking. We had a great selection of treats to enjoy and raised just under £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thank you to everyone who donated, baked and stopped by to support us!

Recruitment in Epsom and Leatherhead

Epsom and Leatherhead have a diverse employment market, with established corporate employers, professional services, technology, engineering, healthcare and a strong network of SMEs.

A highly qualified workforce – Local data shows that 55% of residents aged 16–64 in Epsom and Ewell hold NVQ Level 4 or above, compared with 43% across England.

A varied recruitment market – From finance and administration to technical and professional roles, businesses across the two areas recruit for a wide range of skills and experience.

For employers, understanding the local talent pool and what candidates are looking for can make all the difference when it comes to attracting the right people.

Would You Hire an AI-Generated CV?

AI is changing how candidates approach CVs and applications, but if every CV looks equally polished, how much can it really tell employers about the person behind it?

We asked our LinkedIn audience what they would prioritise when reviewing a candidate, and “How someone communicates” came out on top with 50% of the votes.
