Job Interview Do's and Don'ts
Preparing for a job interview?
Here are some quick tips to help you stand out for all the right reasons:
Do's:
Research the company. Know their values, recent news and the role inside out.
Dress appropriately. Even for virtual interviews, aim to dress professionally.
Prepare questions. Show your interest by asking thoughtful questions about the role or company.
Practice answers. Be ready for common questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "Why do you want this job?"
Follow up. Send a thank-you email highlighting your enthusiasm for the role.
Don’ts:
Don’t wing it. Preparation is key to confidence and clear communication.
Don’t badmouth previous employers. Stay professional, no matter your experiences.
Don’t overlook body language. Sit up straight, maintain eye contact, and smile!
Don’t ramble. Keep your answers concise and relevant to the question.
Don’t forget the basics. Arrive on time, check your tech (for virtual interviews), and bring copies of your CV.
Remember, interviews are a two-way conversation. You’re evaluating the company just as much as they’re evaluating you!
